ACTIVE SERVICE GUIDELINES
An official will be considered an “active” official during any track season when that official works three (3) or more days at track meets hosted by LSU. This includes all college and high school meets which are normally hosted by LSU each year as well as meets not hosted every year, such as the SEC Indoor and Outdoor Championships, and the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Anyone working two (2) days or less will be considered “inactive” for that year. NOTE: The Board of Directors has previously determined what constitutes a “day” worked. The approved guideline states that an official is considered as having worked a “day” if he/she works at least half of his/her scheduled events that day. Anyone working less than half of his/her events on any day would not get credit for that day.
Service awards (5 & 10 year pins, 15 & 20 year plaques, 25 year clock, and 30 year watch) will now be tied to “active” years in the Association, not “membership” years as in the past.
Hall of Fame eligibility (at least ten [10] years) will also be tied to “active” years in the Association.
These guidelines will begin with the 2005 Track & Field season. Attendance and service records prior to 2005 will not be changed to meet the new guidelines. The new guidelines will be applied in future years only.
Also, beginning with the 2005 season, attendance records for all days worked at meets hosted by LSU will be kept. In the past we have not kept attendance records for any days worked after the State High School Outdoor Championship meet. As in the past, when we have any days of limited activity, such as a day of Multi-Event competition only, we will keep records of those officials who work that day. That day will count as a day worked for those officials who do work it, but will not count against any official not working that day.
